Nirvana Center Ipoh

The 1st luxurious, five-star bereavement care center in Perak

In its effort to further introduce and expand its award-winning products and services to Perak, a pre-launch ceremony was recently hosted for Nirvana Center Ipoh – the upcoming and latest modern facility from the award-winning bereavement care provider, Nirvana Asia Group.

However, instead of a new building, the centre will be occupying a well-known, familiar landmark along Ipoh’s historic Jalan Masjid; the iconic, Rex Theatre. Originally built in the 1920’s in the Art Deco style as a warehouse, the building was converted to become the Rex Theatre in the 1940’s. For close to half a century, the Rex Theatre was the place where the people of Ipoh came to indulge in films from Hollywood, Hong Kong and “Bollywood” before eventually closing down in 1998 as single screen cinemas fell out of fashion in favour of high-end cineplexes. Despite spending many years in a semi-abandoned state, many of the city’s older generation still held fond memories of the theatre’s heydays and regard it with nostalgia.

Aware of its iconic value and ever the advocate for preservation of heritage and culture, Nirvana Asia is working to redeveloped and repurpose the building to become Nirvana Center Ipoh. The largest pre-need bereavement care provider in Asia intends to maintain much of its original architectural features – including the familiar “portholes” found at the side of the building – while at the same time enhancing the existing Art Deco elements by adding on its own modern designs and reinterpretations.

Once completed, Nirvana Center Ipoh is expected to become the most prominent bereavement care centre of its kind in the state – housing up to five memorial parlours with individual themes and design, including two designated elegant VIP and VVIP parlours – complemented by luxurious and stylish interiors that is synonymous with Nirvana Asia’s world-class facilities.

Not shying away from the building’s history, Nirvana Asia aspires Nirvana Center Ipoh to be the theatre for life’s final performance and curtain call; where life stories are told and remembered for a complete and perfect farewell. It is part of the reason that the company decided to host the pre-launch at a cinema. With a strategic location, convenient transportation and well-equipped facilities, Nirvana Center Ipoh aims to provide the people of Ipoh with efficient and top-quality services and rejuvenate the aging landmark once it opens its doors.
