KUALA LUMPUR, 14 February: Sarawak has recently experienced an unprecedented flood, forcing countless families from their homes while placing lives and property at severe risk.

In swift response to the crisis, Malaysia Minister of Tourism, Arts, and Culture, and Bintulu Member of Parliament, Dato Sri Tiong King Sing rushed to the disaster zone to personally take part in the rescue operations, aiding in the emergency evacuation of flood victims and collaborating closely with local communities to provide essential relief.

His selfless dedication and rapid action exemplified his deep sense of responsibility as a public official and highlighted the strong bond between the government and the people.

“It is heartbreaking to see the people in the affected areas lose their homes and everything due to the floods,” Tiong expressed, “At this difficult time, each of us should do our best to help others, especially those who are most vulnerable. In the face of disaster, no one can stand on the sidelines—we face it together, and we will overcome it together.”

Despite challenging conditions and being drenched from head to toe, Tiong worked tirelessly to assist in evacuations, placing the well-being of residents above all else.

Deeply moved by his selfless dedication, Nirvana Asia Group founder and executive chairman, Tan Sri Kong Hon Kong immediately pledged RM500,000 to support the flood relief efforts.

“Disasters remind us of our shared social responsibility,” Kong said, “Every contribution, no matter the size, can become a beacon of hope for those striving to rebuild their lives and I sincerely hope this donation brings warmth and comfort to those in need.”

Kong’s generous donation is more than financial assistance—it is a heartfelt expression of care and solidarity with the flood victims.

Tiong expressed his sincere gratitude for the contribution and called on more individuals and organizations to join the relief efforts: “Every donation, every volunteer’s effort, brings new hope to the disaster-stricken community,” he said, “Together, we can help the victims rebuild their lives and restore their sense of normalcy.”

The catastrophic floods have affected thousands, destroyed homes, and left many families struggling for survival.

In the aftermath, the government and relevant agencies are working tirelessly to deliver emergency supplies, medical care, and shelter.

Authorities are also urging the public to contribute to relief initiatives and support recovery efforts with concrete actions.

Despite the devastation, the Malaysian people have shown unwavering courage and unity.

Though the disaster has brought hardship and sorrow, there is hope; and with the collective efforts of the government, charitable organizations, and the generosity of kind-hearted individuals, Sarawak will undoubtedly rise from this tragedy, stronger and filled with renewed hope for the future.
